so a number s (s) is subtracted from seven (7 take away s or 7-s) when the result (7-s) is divided by 3 [(7-s)/3] the quotient is 2 (=2)

(7-s)/3=2

multiply both sdis by 3

7-s itmes 3/3=2 times 3
